Outreach &
Education have been cornerstones of Staged!
from the very beginning. "Education" is not a buzzword for us, nor an
afterthought; it's at the core of what we do and who we are.
We engage our theatre-going public in Outreach & Education programs on several
levels:
Musical Theatre Intensives for Youth.
Intensive musical theatre workshops for advanced students who aim to be "triple threats." We partner with top guest artists and casting directors to teach dance technique, acting, voice, choreography, and audition technique.
Technical Theatre Mentoring Program.
High school technical theatre students will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best designers and stage managers in Portland, learning the craft in a professional environment. We have partnered with Molalla High School's technical theatre program for the 2007-08 season, but all area students with an interest in technical theatre are welcome to apply.
Theatre Residencies.
Staged!
offers school
residencies in a variety of lengths with different focuses to meet each school's
needs. Short-term and long-term residencies are available in Musical Theatre
Repertoire, Musical Theatre History, Dialects, Singing for Theatre, Acting,
Auditioning, Choreography and Dance Technique. Our residency artists teach
throughout the tri-county area.
Inservices.
Teachers have the opportunity to learn simple ways to integrate theatre, music, and movement into their daily curriculum, fulfilling the state standards for arts learning. Taught by our educational staff.
Cerebral Mulch.
All are welcome to join us for lively pre-performance chats and talk-backs with
musical theatre artists, writers, and dramaturgs. Come explore the ins and outs
of musical theatre lore with us…held prior to each matinee.
